I know most of you know me for my music but my new 76-minute feature documentary film I directed, Far East Deep South, will premiere at Cinequest Film Festival with screenings Mar 6, 7 & 14 in Redwood City and San Jose, CA and then move to the Oxford Film Festival Mar 20 & 22 in Oxford, MS. I had the good sense to have my friend and Emmy-award winning composer, Nathan Wang, do the original score but my song “This Road” does make an appearance in the film in the end credits. My film was named one of the Top Picks to watch at Cinequest by the San Francisco Examiner so I couldn’t be more thrilled.
The film is about a Chinese-American family’s search for their roots leads them to the Mississippi Delta, where they stumble upon surprising family revelations and uncover the racially complex history of the early Chinese in the segregated South.
